Price: $4.99
Bad North: Jotunn Edition is a real-time strategy game and a port of the PC version on Steam. You play as a ruler and your father was killed by Vikings. You defend your kingdom and the people in it from the Viking threat. The core of the game is classic RTS. However, there are some extra elements to make the game more fun. For instance, invaders can throw torches into houses and burn stuff to the ground. The mobile port is well done and we didn’t find many complaints. The game is also available on the Switch if you would rather play it there.
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY! Call of Duty: Mobile
Price: Free to play
Call of Duty: Mobile is one of the largest mobile game releases in 2019. It hit the Play Store like a ton of bricks and already has almost four million reviews and 50 million downloads. Thankfully, it’s actually a good mobile shooter. Players play the game, unlock various things, and play some more. It contains a bunch of iconic maps from the console games and yes, it includes a 100-person battle royale like PUBG Mobile and Fortnite. There are other game types as well in case you don’t want that. It’s a rock solid shooter overall and a contender for best game of the year.
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY! DIGIMON ReArise
Price: Free to play
DIGIMON ReArise is the latest mobile game in the popular card dueling franchise. It features an original story, the ability to interact more with your Digimon, and various social elements to play with other people. There is an online PvP with up to five versus five duels. It’s not a bad game in this genre. There are some connection issues but we assume those are temporary because the game is new.
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY! Grobo
Price: $3.99
Grobo is a pleasant mix of a puzzle game and a platformer. It reminds us a little bit of Machinarium because of the setting and characters. You play as a robot and you solve various puzzles and make it to the next level. The game features 48 levels across five narrative chapters, decent graphics, good game play mechanics, and surprisingly good attention to detail. It runs for a single $3.99 price tag with no additional in-app purchases or ads.
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY! League of Wonderland
Price: Free to play
League of Wonderland is a Clash Royale style game from SEGA. Players collect cards, build decks with eight of them, and go at it against other players online. It boasts matches under two minutes long and that makes it a great arcade experience for blowing a couple of minutes. The game also includes various skills and buffs, a Viewer Mode to watch others play, and simple mechanics. People who like this game enjoy that it’s way faster that other tower assault games like Clash Royale and similar titles while still using the same mechanics.

Price: Free to play
Mario Kart Tour is another huge release for 2019. It’s a mobile racer with a delightful Mario Kart theme. However, we feel the need to point out that it’s not a true Mario Kart title. You’ll need a Nintendo Switch for that. That said, it’s not bad for a mobile racer. Players have options between two sets of controls and collect various racers through a summoning system similar to a gacha game. We recommend the simple control method until you get the rhythm of the game down, then switch to the other mode. It’s a good mobile racer, even if it’s not classic Mario Kart.
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY! Perfect World Mobile
Price: Free to play
Perfect World Mobile is a mobile reboot of the once popular MMORPG on PC. It has some of the elements of the original game, but with modern mobile MMORPG mechanics on top of it. The game boasts a 60,000 square kilometer open world, plenty of solo and multiplayer options, and the graphics are pretty decent. It’s not bad as far as MMORPGs go on mobile. However, its freemium elements do get more and more obvious the longer you play. At that point, it’s all about whether or not you have the patience to grind passed it or quit and try something else. It’s up to you, really.
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY! Vectronom
Price: $5.49
Vectronom is one of the more unique new Android games. It’s a mix between a puzzle-platformer and a rhythm game. Each level pulses, rotates, and changes to the beat of electronic music. Players move about, avoid obstacles, and complete levels with the music. Thus, this is a game you probably should play with headphones or the volume up since the beat matters a lot. There is a decent single player campaign and the music is fairly catchy. The game runs for $5.49 with no in-app purchases or ads.
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY! Walk Master
Price: Free / Up to $4.99
Walk Master is a goofy puzzler simplar to games like QWOP or Daddy Long Legs. The difficulty is actually getting the character to walk forward without tipping them over. The game includes 26 characters, many challenging levels, and controls that are simple to learn and difficult to master. These types of goofy arcade games usually aren’t anything special, but people seem to really like this one. The free version has a light touch with ads and the game is actually quite fun.
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY! Zombieland: Double Tapper
Price: Free to play
Zombieland: Double Tapper is an idle tap game and a surprisingly decent one. It features a bunch of characters from the movie as well as some characters exclusively for the game. You gather a team, send them out to kill zombies, and tap away to help them do it. Players earn stuff to make themselves more powerful. The game has some bugs as you would expect in a new game, but nothing too serious and we expect the bugs to get fixed sooner rather than later.
