Welcome to Checking In With, a podcast featuring conversations with Coveteur co-founders Jake Rosenberg and Stephanie Mark and their most inspiring peers. This week we’re giving June Ambrose a ring to see what’s currently happening in her world. Listen to our podcast to hear Ambrose tell it in her own words, and tune in regularly for interviews with the people who influence us the most.
Costume designer, stylist, creative director, and author June Ambrose has styled some of the most powerful stars in the world, including Zoe Saldana, Jay-Z, Mariah Carey, Kerry Washington, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, and many more. She designed Missy Elliott’s patent leather and vinyl suit for her “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” music video. And the outfits she puts together on Instagram and in the wild are always #flawless.
We chatted with Ambrose about what the future of fashion will be after quarantine and got her take on how all of this will affect the way we dress and how designers show upcoming collections. Above all, Ambrose expressed optimism for the future and called for people to go at a slower pace and be gentle with themselves right now.
Through these strange times, Ambrose is still dedicated to finding a daily routine: In her words, “wash your ass,” take a shower, get dressed every morning, be productive, be healthy. In case you had any doubt, she’s documenting it all—since quarantine began, she’s also started the June & Summer show with her teenage daughter on Instagram Live. Tune in daily to get teenager-friendly, mom-approved interviews and other content to get you through these long days—but first, listen to our podcast below to hear Ambrose tell it in her own words, and stay tuned for more episodes each and every week.
