Black History Month Word Search

The month of February marks Black History Month in the United States, where we celebrate the great achievements of African Americans, from the civil rights movement, including civil rights activist and civil rights leaders, to Abraham Lincoln and the civil war, to Harriet Tubman and the underground railroad, and so much more African American culture. To commemorate the occasion with children, I have a great way and a fun activity that includes a word search puzzle. The word searches include a free printable worksheet and word list made up of African American leaders like Martin Luther King Jr., Frederick Douglass, and even Barack Obama, our first black president in U.S. history. These black history month worksheets include word search activities that are great for classroom use and a fun way to raise a discussion on the accomplishments of African Americans. With modern figures from the Civil Rights acts, Dr. Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, and other historical figures, it is a perfect addition to teachers’ lesson plans. There are a couple of different difficulty levels in this word search activity, making it fun for students from second grade to high school. And the best part is that these are free printables to enjoy!
